We are thinking of driving to Dubai next week. Is there an agency that sorts the necessary transit visas through KSA and the paperwork for the car (to get it out of Qatar, in and out of KSA, and into UAE)? Any info - and contact names and phone numbers - would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!!

Thanks for all the info! Unfortunately it didn't work our for us, as not all of us who were planning to travel have RPs (some are here on tourist visa) and therefore can't get the transit visa through KSA. Oh well. Will keep the info on hand for next time though.

Sorry but Al Kanz is definitely not the only option to get Saudi Visas. They are located in a convenient location :). We used a company located on the first floor of Souq Asiery (the fabric souq), and they were very prompt in getting our visas. There are, infact, lots of agents on that floor! Ismail - 55513959 I have forgotten the name of the company. Have to agree with Amy....the whole trip was very easy and we bought our salik at a petrol station just as we left Abu Dhabi for Dubai. The roads are now fabulous in Dubai and well sign posted compared to 2004 when we left Dubai to come to Doha!!

Just to add - I think Al Kanz is the only option. It's certainly the place you have to use to apply for Saudi visas.

Sorry, only just seen this - we drove to Dubai last week and followed the advice in these blogs: http://www.qnhg.org/files/wpro_shared/docs/How%20to%20travel%20to%20UAE%20and%20Oman%20by%20road.pdf and http://wahyuinqatar.wordpress.com/2009/07/27/uae-oman-trip-preparation-immigration-documentation-car/ We used Al Kanz too and they were great. The whole trip was honestly very easy and enjoyable, I don't know why everyone made such a fuss about us doing it!

I would just like to add on to what Margarita has said. The agency we used was Al Kanz and I think it might be the one she has mentioned as they are also located in Gharaffa. Canadian passport holders need to apply one month in advance due to "diplomatic" reasons and this change has come about only in July or so otherwise it normally takes two working days. It costs QR 135 per passport for the Saudi transit visa. Just want to also mention that one of our friends recommended the Salik card which can be purchased at the UAE border; this apparently takes care of the toll charges while driving in Dubai. We bought one just to avoid being fined (100 dirhams) as we also went to Ferrari World etc. Hope that helps.

Hi Rachel, the number is 44883713. This is an agent in Al Gharaffa. It depends on your nationality as to how long it will take to get it. We have Australian passports and it took 2 days. Some friends from Canada needed 40 days! You will need a letter from your sponsor saying it's OK to go. 2 X white background passport pics, letter from finance company if car is under finance and copy of the rego.
