Did anyone go to the first showing of Cirque Du Soleil yesterday? I am going on Saturday and was wondering what the show was like.

Thanks to the ladies for warning us of the uncomfortable seats - I took some old cushions as I have a bad back and we were much more comfortable - lol! Enjoyed the show, although the stunts were very similar to the stuff I saw in Alegria in Dubai...but it was nice all the same! Security told me off for looking at my phone long before the show started (wasn't taking pics)..of course, many people around in national dress had their phones constantly out, even during the show and people were taking pics at the front..they didn't seem to have anything said to them...love the double standards here! Bags not searched, so could have taken our own refreshments in, as they didn't have much choice there. Temp was ok in there, not too hot or too cold.... edited by chizz on 07/07/2012

Thanks ladies, will pack a foot stool for sure! What can you tell me about the indoor temp? Sometimes these things are beyond freezing, especially with the performers to consider....

the seats were awful, as said below too far off the ground, I'm 5'7 with long legs and could only touch the ground by hunching forward, which gave me a sore back, (bring some sort of foot stool if you can) such a shame as the show itself was lovely. We were late (just after 8, sorry about that to those who were annoyed we had last minute babysitter issues and then missed out on parking so ended up having to walk a long way) so yep, get there early if you can. The must close all the food stalls just before the show starts, really wished we had brought our own refreshments as they didn't check bags and it would have been fine to bring stuff in. You are not allowed to use your phone, which is fair enough but the usher who insisted on squeezing past in front of us several times during the show to tell people next to us to stop using theirs was far more annoying/distracting!

We went last night, got there for 7 to avoid the rush, people were still coming in after it started at 810 (10 mins late) We were centre silver, the stadium seating is the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on being only 161cm my feet dangled and getting there early meant a long sit, began to think the expensive seats would have been worth the money! We timed our leaving perfectly at 1040 we left during what turned out to be the last bit. so we got out easily. there are refreshments available by the arena are, but only juice, water and milk shakes, we felt they could have offered more choice. But for a first big event it was ok. The show itself was okay, DH had seen them in Dubai, he felt the angle of the seating was too great, being lucky enough to see lots of shows over the years we were a bit bored in parts, but parts were blooming fantastic, we had some little people in front of us who were poorly behaved but they left at the interval which was a relief, only for the fact I could rest my dangling legs on the seats in front! Overall though glad we went next time I would sit nearer the front o get a better view. It was a full house, I was told by the director of the venue there are going to limited tickets available on the door each night, ticket office will be open from 6, people were still buying at 7 when we got there!

I wasn't able to convince my husband to go with me and didn't want to go alone ... but that being said, Cirque de Soleil always put on an amazing show. We have seen 5 different shows in Vegas and each was great in its own way. Usually there's no such thing as a "bad seat" when it comes to a cirque show because the action doesn't only take place on stage. Glad to hear that those who have gone enjoyed it! :)

Hello I went last night and it was amazing. It was my first CDS experience so I can't comment on what it's like compared to other shows, but I can tell you that as a first timer I was very very impressed. What some of those people can do with their bodies beggers belief. Really worth the time. The show is quite long though, finishing past 11 pm, so some people with small kids left early. Also, a side note, it was surprisingly stress free from a Doha logistics point of view. I suggest you get there around 7pm and you should have no problems finding parking (we parked in street parking by Aspire dome).
