Hello ladies, I'm wondering if maybe somebody here can share info about how to get the visa on arrival in Dubai traveling from Doha.

I do not hold a passport from one of the 33 countries that can apply for the visa on arrival, I know that there is an exception for those who hold a valid residency permit in any of the GCC countries but need to have a certain professions or high ranking positions. And I also know that I can't travel alone if I'm under my husband's sponsorship.

My question is if is it true that you have to have the residency for at least 6 months before being able to travel to Dubai from Doha in this case scenario?

Thanks in advance

To the OP, you can get a tourist visa through Fly Dubai. It costs about QR 380 but the condition is that u have to buy the flight ticket through Space Travel. They do the visas for Fly Dubai which takes five working days. Costs QR 100 more than the airline ticket online but that is their condition. Alternately Emirates will arrange visa but u have to take package which includes flight and hotel. Hope this helps. The UAE embassy does not issue visas directly or that's what I was told.

Thanks a lot for the info DebK, one whole year to be able to apply for the visa on arrival seems a lot isn't? I guess it's way more easy to try to get the visa here at the embassy, I will call tomorrow to check out the requirements. Eithe that or arrange the whole thing with the hotel. Since we are talking about visas in the GCC countries, does any of you traveled from Doha to Bahrain? DH is going there for a month and I would like to go to visit him but again I don't hold a european/American/Australian passport (no visa on arrival option for me) and I have only 2 months here, can I travel there by myself? TIA

Dear Marroosh, if your mum is on a UAE tourist visa, just remember to check how many entries she is allowed into the UAE. Normally the UAE tourist visas are single entry only, which means she used this when she arrived in the UAE originally. She may be allowed in Qatar, but not back into the UAE. People do visa runs all the time into Oman, are the rules different in Qatar? she has a EU passport and doesn't require to have a visa before arrival. edited by Marroosh on 22/09/2012

[b'>[i'>Visa on arrival in Qatar is available for the residents of these countries: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, The Netherlands, USA, UK, Vatican City. [/i'>[/b'> I believe the cost is QR 100, which must be paid by credit card, not cash. Sorry to high jack the thread, but I am doing the opposite. I am planning to fly in from Dubai, where I am a resident, EU passport holder. I am flying in with my mother, who will be on a UAE tourist visa, also EU passport. I will of course have a return flight and a hotel for 2 nights booked. Is that enough to enter the country without problems? edited by Marroosh on 22/09/2012

Hi Loloatdoha -- you can find visa information here: http://www.emirates.com/english/plan_book/essential_information/visa_passport_information/find_visa_requirements/find_visa_requirements.aspx For example, as a Canadian I have to pay for a visa to go to the UAE, but can get a visa on arrival because I meet the following requirements: Holders of a Residence Permit issued by Qatar can obtain a visa on arrival for a max. stay of 30 days, provided: - [b'>residing in a GCC country for at least 1 year[/b'>; and - a Resident Permit is valid for at least 3 months on arrival; and - holding confirmed return tickets. Fee: AED 185.-. E-visas for Dubai (DXB) can be applied for, prior to departure, through the internet at www.ednrd.ae . Airlines can check the validity of an e-visa at the same site by clicking on the "Query DNRD APP" button. Not sure where you are from, but if you go to the provided url and punch in your information you should be able to find out what you need to know. Cheers!
