Ban of Philippina Housemaids -- how does this effect RP renewal?

Our Philippina housemaid has been with us for almost 6 years. I understand that there is now a ban (not sure if this is from the Philippine Embassy or the Qatar MOI or MOL).

My question is -- how does this ban impact those who are already here and sponsored when it's time for renewal? Her RP expires in May. Does anyone know the situation about renewing sponsorship (she's under my sponsorship and has been for years)? Of course I know that things might change any time -- but as it stands now? Any info is appreciated!

I don't think it affects housemaids here (present contracts). When the housemaid goes on leave she has to get a stamp in her passport and a contract filled in from you, so that she can return easily. If she doesn't get that, she can't get back.

The agency we were going to use (the ban came into effect the morning after we submitted all our documents; lucky huh) told us that the new law applies only for new visas. This is also what I remember reading. However maybe u could call the agency where you first employed her from and ask.

Best go to the Pilipino Embassy with her to check. I "heard" the ban also applies on renewal of visas. Please keep us posted?

I have the same worry... our nanny has been with us 4 years. She's planning to go on vacation in March and I'm a little concerned about her getting back in the country.

Whilst I don't know of anyone personally who's actually done it (it's all friend of a friend of a friend...), my understanding is that ban just impacts on new visas. You should be fine with renewal of RPs.
