You're not missing a zero at the start of the serial number? Is the serial number def only numerals ie not getting a zero mixed up with a O.i had a problem a while back using card reader to transfer money...think I warned to transfer £700 but it would n't let me until I eventually clicked that I had to type 700.00 and not 700. I know it's not the same but maybe need to add a zero at beginning of serial number or something. the serial number as shown on the key is 2 digits then 7 then 1, on screen where you type the number in it has 3 boxes, so I would assume to put the number in as seen. Hubby going into the bank on Sunday, its not a major rush we have over 80 days to activate and use, this might be just enough time for the bank to sort it out. lol.

I got as far as setting the pin code, I then enter the serial number of the key card. ID error shows up, locks us out of internet banking. Their customer service just completely useless. I have set up a couple of key cards, never a bother, easy peasy, so I am completely lost with this one.

Is the problem getting onto the website, or activating the key pad when you are on it? I've never accessed HSBC online banking with anything other safari so firefox or explorer only is clearly not a problem. I do have a number of HSBC secure keys, and if you are at the stage of actually using it follow the instructions on the screen very carefully, the key pads do not have the same function for the same button country by country. I've slipped up with that on occasions.

We've been with HSBC for almost 5 years, here, offshore and UK - never had a problem! Just activated my latest secure key - no fuss there either.

My advice....change banks now and save yourself lots of heartache...we changed after six years and I have no idea why we didn't do it 5 years 11 months earlier when we saw the first signs of what was to come! :)

Rang the bank...... sigh. Whilst on the phone we followed the instruction from the idiot on the other end, still wouldnt work, his answer to us was we need Firefox or Explorer, Google Chrome does not let you open the bank website. Never had a problem with Chrome, and as for the other search engines, they didnt work either. Back to square one........ what is wrong with this bank, had problems in Dubai and its even worse here. Does anyone know the address of head office, I now need to escalate all our issues to them. Tia
