Visiting husband for two months and would like to network

Your very welcome. Taxi's are quite cheap here, but they wont have child seats. In Dubai I believe its possible to request child seats if you book a taxi. Dont think theyve got that far here yet. ( On kids safety in cars generally , well you will see for yourself) I dont go out a great deal. So not driving here isnt a problem. ( I prefer tp keep my sanity intact) Honestly there isnt a great deal to do here. There is however a fun fair & lots of families go to Green island I believe it has places to BBQ. Not sure what else but its very popular. Most things will be closed during the day as its Ramadan so your husband will be able to show you around in the evening when places reopen & its cooler. Lu lu's supermarket has an section with Indian clothes. I would suggest you try the large newer store. More parking & less crowded. A scarf will be fine, people may even appreciate you wearing one. Hello Nicole, Sorry cant help with BF, as my kids are grown up now. If you try the Dubai forum they will give you tons of information about that. It will be almost the same in the UAE as it is here.The Ladies are incredibly helpful & will tell you everything you need to know. As for cultural do's & dont's I know I assumed there would be more strict or noticeable differences. To be honest I dont see them. I tend to cover up ( not an Abaya) . As I feel more comfortable as well as respecting any religious & cultural aspects. For example capri or cropped Another point is not to make eye contact with a man you arent acquainted with. But that point dosent seem to be upheld. Im sure you know there is no alcohol or pork on sale here. We dont find that a problem. Generally ladies dont wear swimming costumes or bikini's on the beach. Although I have seen them one or twice. Im sure youve been adviced about the driving. So if you intend to drive bring all the patience you posses & nerves of steel. Needless to say I wont drive here. Im English by the way, living in Salmiya with LSH long suffering husband. I would be happy to meet you although my knowledge of Kuwait isnt huge, I would be glad to help. If you need a baby sitter youve found her. Im a grandmother or Nanny as I prefer. Dont worry to much about etiquette, the people here love kids. You will be here at the hotest time of the year so be careful. Not sure when Ramadan is but I think you will be here for that also. Its always wise to be more sensitive at this time regarding what you wear. You will not be able to eat drink or smoke in public during the hours of fasting. Your children will be able to eat & drink but I dont see many children doing so. BF mothers may be exempt from this but I would say dont risk it.
