Taxis can be a little expensive in Kuwait, but are extremely easy to access. Thus, residents and visitors to the State utilise this mode of transportation regularly.

For those who choose to travel by taxi, there are two different types of taxi services in operation. The first system drive on a specific route - these are generally orange coloured cars. These taxis are allowed to pick up and drop off people anywhere on that route only, and journeys can be shared with friends or even strangers. The second type of taxi service available in Kuwait can be accessed at hotels or summoned via phone.

! A piece of advice for women travelling in Kuwait via taxi, you should refrain from travelling in a taxi alone during the night.

Water Taxis

Ferries regularly run from Kuwait City to the Failaka Islands and other locations. Dhows can also be hired for trips along the coast. These water taxis and dhows are organised by several touristic enterprises and organisations. They serve the coastal cities of the region, and are relatively cheap.
