Hi, am new to this board but it has been very useful to me in the last couple of weeks.

I am 20, a UK national, looking to apply to the Masdar Institute in Masdar City when I graduate in 2012. The admission gives full scholarship including accommodation, healthcare, visa, travel, textbooks and laptop etc as well as tuition costs - plus a small living wage (it doesn't say what). Bearing in mind I have everything paid for except food, activities etc what should I expect as a decent wage?

What are the opinions of foreign female engineering students and how do women of my sort of age? Looking at the boards, the safety aspect seems no worse than my hometown of London, although I would have to readjust having studied in Cornwall for a few years.

I see there is a UAE national womens cricket team - what are the sport options for girls and women? I am a keen cricketer but would definitely want to keep up with some activities.

I am pretty much sold on the idea but would like these questions asked - plus I think my Mum could do with some reassuring!

Thanks in advance :)

Khatoon - I am so sorry it has taken me this long to reply but thank you so much for your answer. It is very reassuring to hear from you! They would cover accommodation and visas and healthcare so I think the wage is fair and its good to hear you agree! I am definitely going to apply - its exciting :)

Also just as a quick addition - I have just found out the living wage is 4000AED.
