Just got a text informing me that if i do not use my salik then i will have to forfeit the remaining balance.....!!!! the fact that when i go to dubai in that car its usually not through the salik, if we do need to go through the salik its usually in our other car...... the fact that they are quite happy to "steal" the remaining balance and not let you transfer to a new car is beyond me, but thats the uae logic sometimes......

BB2, I was told if both cars are registered to the same person, the balance can be transfered. Will they cancel your account completely? What if you have to go to DXB with that car, will you need to get another salik card and start all over?:\: this car is in my name but was used purely by my husband when he was commuting for work up and down to dubai, he doesnt do that now, and uses a different car, we bought a new car with the intention of getting rid of the old car (in my hubs name) but that hasnt happened yet, so we have 3 cars 2 with salik, i do not want to put a new salik on the new car for the occasional time that we go to dubai in it, and i want to use up what balance we have on the 2 salik cars, its different if you are driving around dubai all the time, but we dont. i will ring them up and see what they can do, i can understand that if its not used then they want to try and cancel the card, but surely you should be able to text back and say yes i still live here, yes you can see that i still register my car every year, no i dont live in dubai, i am using it, but i am not driving it under the salik gates when i come to dubai, as we do go different ways you know.... originally i didnt get any sms because they put down the wrong phone number etc, only when i checked then i got it sorted, but i do not want to cancel it, its not a car that is abandoned etc etc. you may be able now to transfer the balance, but you would then have to buy the salik card again!

Oh I love it! Did you manage to get a "reason" for this particular situation? Beggars belief really ;) because i havent used it like for a couple of years, thats because i never go down the main road when i go to dubai, but go off wasl road or beach road etc, if i go down past the salik gates usually in the other car. but even so ........ i may ring them up and say yes i still want it activated...... after all its my money, i can understand if you live in dubai and dont use it for a time but as i am in abu dhabi i am not going up and down all the time just driving for driving sake under the salik gates!!!
