So we're downsizing, needs doing either way ;-) And we've come to a crunch with the gaming consoles and other electricals.

We're looking at our xbox 360 and ps3 and wondering if it's worth bringing them to the UAE...ie. will they work?

I've googled this and so far come up with the fact that the UK xbox takes the same voltage as you have in UAE so this should not be an issue. I am not however sure if there are any other issues I need to be aware of with xbox 360 or if the UK one will be fine?....

The ps3 is coming up saying that the games are region free but the systems DO have regions and UK is region 3 whilst UAE is region 4. It also says though that as UK ps3's use PAL they should work in UAE which also uses PAL. I'm therefore confused if a UK ps3 will work in UAE or not lol.

We were also considering putting our home cinema system in with the stuff to be cargo'd and just getting a new TV when we get there. Our system is a DVD player and 5.1 surround system with an extra base speaker. The DVD player is not HD but does upscale. The system is approx 4yrs old but works fine for our needs and wouldn't take up much extra room with the stuff we already want to send.

i cant say for xbox but play stations here are PAL usually, virgin here only sell PAL vesions, C4 used to sell NSTC only (us version) but they do sell PAL versions as well. I have bought galaxy tab from the us and all you do is swap the leads around so that you dont need to put into an adapator here. i cant tell you regarding the regions on the ps3 but the regions for the dvds are the same as the uk, we are region 2 as is the uk. but most dvd players here are multi region so they will work on all. in the uk its illegal for them to sell different regions to the dvd players, here not so, many years ago we had that problem, you do have to check which system your machine and buy in the correct shop accordingly.

I'm actually surprised no replies? Has no one bothered to take their UK consoles to try out? It sounds like it might work. I know USA ones need adapters or they just wont work so a lot of people just buy new in UAE.
