Car dealer called me today saying they got my car in that I reserved, now telling me that I have to pay for the insurance tomorrow, 3,000 something QR for the year. Is this reasonable (for a 2012 Nissan Qashqai)? I assume the dealership is going to charge more. What are my other options? I've heard of QIC and I have AXA for health..

Thanks for any insight

I can recommend Axa. We've been insured with them for 6 years & are very happy with them. Their customer service is really good. QR3000 for a new car sounds about right.

We have AXA, (details below) and we have a 5 year no claims discount and the highest insurance pkg they have - includes things like off road and recovery asst and the first year was around 3800 and I just renewed yesterday and it was around 3400 and it is insuring 99000QAR. We could have gone with less insurance options and it was going to be about 3000QAR. I think it is pretty straightforward here as in, they are insuring the amount of the car and assuming everyone drives the same...as our car is insured for any driver over 25 with a Qatari or transferable license over 1 yr.
