My husband's PRO is saying the cost is 12 X the monthly salary paid to her, i.e. if you pay AED1,000, then cost of visa is AED12,000.
Surely this can't be right? Very different from Dubai!

no they have different rules and prices even if you think they are united. usually you have to go with the paperwork where your visa is. so if you have an abu dhabi visa then you have to go there for the paperwork, etc same for your cars etc. hence why they are trying to get people to not work in ad and commute from dxb.

Has anyone actually sponsored a maid recently and can confirm this is true? I thought being one country, the fees should be same in each emirate. Do I have to sponsor through Abu Dhabi if I live in Dubai but DH works in AD?

Very different from Dubai! yep... thats sounds right, hence why people put down the minimum on the actual contract for immigration..... what you are saying that dubai is cheaper??? of course, we people in auh have to pay more in housing, more in maids, more in...... and thats not including you usually have to pay the deposit too.
