We've been offered a place for our DS at one school and given a very short timeframe to accept. We'd rather hold out for another school, but we won't hear from them for a few weeks.

I heard that ADEC regulations state that the schools are not permitted to request a holding deposit until 1st May, but I can't find anything on the ADEC site about this.

I know we're really lucky to have an offer at all, but we'd rather he went to other school that we're waiting to hear from.

Any advice very welcome!

Thanks

Thanks Busybee We've paid the 500 registration fee, but they're now asking for over 3000 per child as a holding deposit. thats the problem, they are allowed to charge 5% i think adec allows, but it depends if its a profit school nor non profit, there is a difference, think i can tell which one it is, down on the al ain road perhaps.

Thanks unfortunately thats the way it goes here, usually most schs charge 500dhs so you just need to pay up and then loose it if another place becomes available. its the way it is that you will just have to wait and see if you get a place offered at your preferred sch and be willing to loose the deposit etc, otherwise you may be stuck and have no place. without a little more information on sch or year group i cannot really give you specifics.
