SeaBass/Fish safe for small children?

Ladies, I love fish and would love to cook it more than I have. However, there's so many no-no fish for small children. Since fish names and types change from region to region I really don't know what's safe or not.
I go out with my 4-year old to eat and he loves fish n chips, and every time I ask the fish type they say it is made of Sea Bass. Looking at the internet apparently Chilean Sea Bass is very high in mercury and a no-no for young kid.
I hope I'm not poisoning my little guy.
Any idea of local fish names, known to be safe to children would be greatly appreciated! I'm from Brazil and all the fish names I learned don't exist here!
