I live across the Arab League St close to Al Malki and love this area! Its far from fancy but just so close to all my critical points in Doha :) This area tends to be a bit overpriced IMO only bec of location. This morning going to breakfast we were passing ithis compound and DH agreed us to take a look this weekend! Will keep you posted!
Becster thank you for all the info. DH seems to have gone into relaxed mode today so hopefully he is going to come back to reality soon and we will make our way to see the compound.
There are loads available after exxon moved out -apparently landlord looking for another corporate but is filling up with non - corporate tenants.
The villas are all the same and are described as 3 beds plus an upstairs office - we use this as a 4th bedroom as same size and they've put a bed in for us - 2 ensuite baths upstairs and a family bathroom.
There is a tiny maid's room and shower room off the kitchen, but we use this as a utility room
I think the kitchen is the only let down as a bit tired.
Ok - my DH's directions from BK roundabout!
If you're coming towards BK roundabout, down khalifa street, go right at roundabout (down arab league street) towards markhiya st and take and then it is the first proper right off that road. Take the immediate left - 10metres immediate sharp left and go to end of that road. Turn left, round bend and entrance on left.
It is 2 mins from starfish lane 1 and by al markhiya gardens compond.
Happy to show you round ours (altho' a bit bare as our stuff still at customs!).

Becster, can you please give me directions? I know Burger King R/A so if you tell me where it is in relation to that I should be able to find my way around. We are desperately looking for a new place as we may have to move out of our present villa. Thanks.
Becster - I'd love some more info please.... costs, sizes of villas etc. if you don't mind. Perhaps you could email me at lissia_brown at yahoo.com? Thanks! Lissia
Hello!
Have now been at Al-Malki for a couple of weeks, so wanted to update this thread as worried it might put off people from moving to what I think is a lovely compound. Great location for starfish 1, DESS and landmark.
Exxon were here and have now moved out so only 10 of the 50 villas are occupied, altho filling up and think another corporate coming.
It's a small, well maintained compound with good facilities - big pool, shady playground for little ones, tennis and squash court.
Definitely kind of compound where kids can scoot and ride bikes around safely - just needs a few more kids for my toddler to hang out with!!
Maintenance could not be more responsive and friendly.
If anyone wants more info happy to speak.

Sorry, did not make that clear in last post....the army folks were the ones making the noise!! Party city apparently as was used for R&R.....everyone complaining about them!!
Hello!
I'm brand new to Doha so please don't rely on this!!
I think Al Malki is new - we looked at lots of the villas on the compound and none had been lived in.
- we really loved it.
We chatted to one of the residents who said no problem with noise at any time of day - and certainly no big construction noise like some we'd visited!
We're planning to rent here and move in in a week as location is perfect for us - near DESS and my office and we liked the feel of it.
I might well be posting here soon that this was a bad decision!!
Let me know if you'd like any more info after we've moved in.
Xx

Exxon used to use this compound.....thinking it is not new? The US army also had housing on it at one time but pulled out due to noise complaints. Never heard any good reports of it but maybe it has changed or not the same one.
hi,
i would be graateful if anyone can give me feedback about this compound.
it's of the new compounds located just behind the burger king roundabout in Al Markhya area.
many thanks
