I have breastfeed all over doha and have for the last 10 months. My son is 18 months and we are still breastfeeding all over the place although since he is older not as much. I do use a nursing cover but I wouldn't say you have to. I have actually seen a women in abaya nurse a baby with no cover at al ahli. You don't see alot of people nursing but its perfectly acceptable. According to Muslim law its a babies right to nurse until they are 2 so really no issue.

in a cafe with a nursing cover or well placed scarf/shawl absolutely no problem, if you look hard you will see it everywhere with ladies of all nationalities and religions and its never an issue. Without a cover, not so common, but doable if you have the clothing to be discreet about it. If she prefers not so or her baby is the type that hates to be covered (like mine) and she is worried then unfortunately there are no public "feeding rooms" as such but some of the mothercare/babyshops have mothers rooms(from experience i wouldn't use the one at babyshop city centre, they do not empty the rubbish bin or ventilate and I'd rather feed my baby next to an open sewer) .Pretty much any shop will let you use their changing rooms though and places like M&S have seats in the rooms which is helpful. At villagio there are comfy seats in the VIP toilets, but personally a no-go for me as although not in a cubicle its still in the toilets plus its freezing in there. I usually use the changing room at mama's and papas. At Landmark the one cafe is a good place as they have booths with drop down curtains, they have replaced the opaque ones with thready ones but still gives some privacy. They also have a screen that they can bring over to the couch area if you ask nicely and screen you off while you feed. The staff are always really good about it. Some ladies also use the prayer rooms, as a non-muslim I've always been too shy to but have done it at the airport and found the ladies very understanding and supportive.

I have seen someone feeding in Starbucks using a nursing cover. I thought it was discreet. Others who have chosen to or not to may have further advice.

Hi Just wondering if it is ok to breastfeed in public? A friend with a new baby is visiting Doha next week and she is wondering if it acceptable. Thanks in advance
