We are moving in August (just after Ramadan) and our kids have spots at ACS. My husband has looked at several compounds in the Al Waab area as this is where he was advised is the closest to everything we will need (shops, parks, sports, etc.). How long will the commute to ACS be from Al Waab area (specifically Beverly Hills 3)? If too long, can someone advise good compounds for families closer to ACS? My husband's office will be near the airport I think.

Thanks for the input! We had heard Al Gharaffa was closer but haven't gotten any compound recommendations for that area. Do you know of good compounds for families there? Does anyone have any feedback on Beverly Hills 3 in Al Waab? Al Gharaffa is closer to ACS. I know that I had a friend looking at villas in Al Ezdan awhile back. I live in that area but at a compound in which my husband's employer provides accomodation. That is sometimes the difficulty in people being able to make suggestions because it's hard to know if anything is available in a compound or if they are rented out entirely by companies. I know that in the compound I live in, my husband's employer rents out 100% of the villas even though there's several that are sitting empty. Did you try looking at the area around ACS on google earth? Some of the compounds tend to be labeled on there.

My husband went to see a villa in Al Jazi today. He liked it and is really concerned about all the car traffic in Beverly Hills Al Rayyon since our kids love to play outside. He still is deciding also if we will live in this area or Al Waab area.....

We went to see the compound during the week end and I didn't see anything like that but I have read in their notice board a message for all the resident to "stick to the speed limit" while going inside the compound because there are children playing in the street. I believe with lots of people in the compound this can happend (even if it shouldn't).

We have heard good things about Beverly Hills Al Raayon but also that there is so much car traffic especially on weekends that the kids can't play outside. Have you heard anything like that?

Hi, we are in the same situation and we were looking a lot around for compounds in that area. We found extremely close (3 minutes by car) al Jazi village 2. Villas are very nice with price around 18.000/19.000 Qr and 2 weeks ago they still had availability. the only reason why we didn't choose it is because I felt a bit claustrophobic in the house, they have small windows and the light that come inside is very few. We preferred the villas in Beverly Hills Al Rayyan and that is where we are going to stay. The compound is big, full of children and just 10 minutes to ACS and is closer than Beverly Hills Gardens 3. If you need more infos let me know. edited by Kiara76 on 26/06/2012

lots of people travel from this area to ACS and as long as you leave in good time doesn't take more than 20 minutes, sometimes less, depending on the day! We find its a good position to get to everything we need i.e. school/shops/work/sports.

Not sure why Al Waab unless it's also close to his work. Al Gharaffa is closer to ACS and (in my opinion) is more central than Al Waab. Al Waab won't be a bad commute to ACS, just not sure why it's being put to you as the only option (particularly with Villagio closed for the foreseeable future).
