Furniture for a maid's room

So it seems that FF apartments which have maids' rooms do not include furniture for the maid's room. Fair enough I suppose, as a lot of people use this space for other purposes.

So where is the best place to go for maid's room furniture? Small bed and small closet and small side table? And if the answer is Najma, specific pointers as to where exactly, availability of new vs. used, etc. would be most welcome.

Thanks.

I have purchased similar furniture from Souk Haraj in the Najma area recently. Its a bunch of shops selling basically everything in a large courtyard. Here are the directions to it. Sorry if it's dicy, got it from Qatar Living: Souk Haraj Najma: Ok when you go down C ring road towards the airport. At the traffic light just before Gulf Cinema, turn left. Go straight at the rdbt, at the traffic light turn right. Now you are in Najma area. There are a lot of cheap furniture shops there. But you want to go to Souq Haraj. So after you have turned right at the light, turn left at the first or second street (sorry am not to sure on this) This is a small street and then after about 50 meters you will see gates on your right. Go in there. This is souq Haraj. Drive/walk around and look if you see anything. Best is to go in the morning. It gets pretty crowded. Also go in daylight as lighting is not too good. http://www.qatarliving.com/node/135324#ixzz1aL0kYQ6p

RachelA: did you end up going to the Najma area for the furniture? What time do the shops open? And do you think I could go on a Saturday? I also need to buy maids room furniture -any suggestions?

I went to this souq last week and just wondered around. Lots of the shops have the same things, so you would find single beds in several places - all different qualities too. There are second hand furniture shops selling many things of all shapes and sizes. There is an area which has mainly new furniture and I believe there is an area where you could get something made to your own design. Plenty of pick ups available willing to deliver and assemble whatever you buy too.
