Hello again!

I have an interview coming up here with a well known company, do you know if I will be able to negotiate an expat package or is there a different package for those recruited locally? I am a professional and have over 10 years experience in my field.

Would appreciate your responses, and do you think I can wear a nice summery dress with a smart blazer? or a trouser suit (which I usualy wear)

Thank you for all your help!!

Definitely the trouser suit. Less likely to cause offence to anyone, and more professional than a summery dress even if that dress is accompanied by a blazer. Good luck!

I would absolutely wear the trousers. In many companies, skirts are prohibited. Cover your knees and elbows. Negotiating as a local hire is much harder than for expats who aren't here yet. The salaries are lower and package almost non-existent. You may get a minimal transport allowance and small housing allowance. If they ask you about salary expecations, I'd just say "In my last job I made X". If it's a large established company then they will probably already have a grade assigned to your position and therefore a fixed salary. If it's a small, new-ish, less-organised company they may not have these processes in place, in which case you may be able to negotiate a little. Definitely ask whether there's room to move in terms of salary, package etc. Local hires usually sell themselves short because they are just so grateful to even have an interview! But at the same time, be prepared in case the offer isn't too great. Good luck!
