Hi Ladies, just wondering if there is a craft group for card making/scrapbooking here?

Question for Craftylorna- It sounds like you do crafts, what kind?

I was in Daiso (upstairs Hyatt Plaza) just before Christmas and they had items there for crafting. Its so cheap in there compared to everywhere else! great!

Welcome back to Doha! It would be great to meet up at Jones this coming Sunday. I will be there except if my shipment is being delivered. It arrives today and depending on how long customs takes, I could have it by next week. Yeah!!! I will let you know should I not be going. Did I give you my email? My distinguishing features are: I am fairly short with shoulder length strawberry blond hair and I am a little older than you. I will probably wear a white jean jacket. See you Sun at 10 at Jones'! edited by parkclark on 30/01/2013 edited by parkclark on 31/01/2013

Hi Craftylorna, yes I did the same thing, but have run out of my supply now since it has been 4 months since we packed up the house. Patience, is what I need to practise now, it won't be much longer, I hope. Have a good trip back and I look forward to catching up for a coffee.

Hi Parkclark....lucky you getting your shipment soon.....I am making some last minute cards here in the uk where I have a small supply of craft stuff, but better than no supply in Doha at the moment. Not snowed in but snow about us, actually glad I wasn't travelling when there were snow disruptions hopefully it will be all gone when I will be coming back...soon!

Hi Ladies, thanks for more info and to Craftylorna and Kimmc3 for the kind offerings I think I am just whining, as I am not in dire straights, just withdrawal as I have been without my craft supplies for 4 months and I think impatience is getting the better of me. We just got confirmation our shipment is to arrive in Doha on the 29th and since hubby has RP now, hopefully it will not take too long until delivery. I will have to check out Colour box and Jarir. I have noted the shop names in Dubai/Abu Dhabi for when we take a trip there. I am sure the prices are more, but then so were the prices in Australia where I moved from. Everything was imported. Hope you are having a nice time in the UK Craftylorna and that you don't get snowed in or anything. the weather here is beautiful right now.

There is a small art store called Color Note sort of near Doha Clinic... same side of the road as Doha Clinic -- but closer to C-Ring. I think it is accross from Nokia? i haven't been there in a couple of years, but they used to have a lot of arts and crafts stuff.... edited by JillMV on 22/01/2013

Hi Ladies, I went to Tribe bookstore at Education City with great hopes but was sadly disappointed. They did have a very small amount of coloured cardstock 5x7 size (the salesgirl could not find the price) and a few packages of 12x12 paper , mainly in birthday themes. There were also a few stickers ( probably about 10 strips, mostly of the same thing.). I am thinking I will likely be buying online or bringing supplies back from Canada . Has anyone purchased cardmaking or scrapbooking supplies online and had it sent to Qatar? Does anyone know if there are some decent craft supply shops in Dubai or anywhere else in the Middle east? I have a shoebox filled with all kinds of bits & bobs that I used for cardmaking & crafting. You're welcome to have it for free if you'd like, as I'm not really 'into' cardmaking any longer.

Sorry to hear Tribe never had much. There are 2 good stores in Dubai Paperlane and Creative Hands. These are proper craft stores though prices are more than you would be used to but I always go with the fact that at least you can get things. There is a small craft store in Abu Dhabi Craft Corner doesn't have everything but a reasonable stock for the size of the shop. I tend to buy when I am in the UK and bring back, I do have a large stock of things so shouldn't need to look for too much. We didn't have a good mail delivery in Abu Dhabi so I tended not to mail order, not sure if we will be better in Doha. I will be back in Doha in a week or 2, will catch up then. If you need anything brought back let me know. X

I used to buy stuff for Guides in the upstairs section of a (forgotten the name of the shop) homeware department store in the little mall beside Villagios. They had lovely card making items but that was 2 years ago mind you and things may have changed.

There is a small shop in City Centre on one of the upper floors. Jarir Bookstores are probably the best bet for craft supplies - there is one near the Radisson (aka Ramada) intersection and another on Rayyan road after the Rayyan petrol station next door to FamilyvFood. If you're after something that you can't find a lot of us have a Shop n ship account with Aramex and shop online.

Hi Ladies, maybe we could go out sometime to look for the few art supply/stationery shops here to see what they have . Let me know. Kelbucko, how long have you been here & what area do you live in?

I only managed to be in Doha for 10days before my trip back to the UK, in that time I never really saw any cardmaking supplies. I don't think there are any. Came from Abu Dhabi where we had a couple of craft shops and visited the Dubai stores which stocked much more. I always managed to get some basics in the stationary shops in Abu Dhabi, but I have not located these yet in Doha. Once we get set up in apartment and my supplies arrive I won't be short of things!.......I usually manage with just picking up things when I am back in the UK. If anyone is looking for anything in particular I have loads of craft CDs and files on my computer. Can also cut things with my cricut machine.

Kelbucko; I have only been here a month and haven't found anything more than the odd skickers or some coloured card stock precut to a few small sizes. Althoough I haven't checked out any stationery shops yet. Have you? Have you tried ordering anything online? I am thinking this is one way to repenlish my stocks. Perhaps Crafylorna may have some insight on supplies . I heard there may be shops in Dubai but not having lived there I am not sure. Does anyone know?

Hi there Good to hear there might be someone with similar interest to me! I mainly make cards but dabble in scrapbooking too. We have recently moved to Doha from Abu Dhabi where I met with a group of crafty ladies once a week. We are still on the flat hunt in Doha then my craft stuff can be delivered......woo hoo! Have been in UK for a month but back in Doha on 10th Jan, would love to meet up with you then? We will be living in West Bay.
