Help! I've been trying to purchase books via iBooks but the only thing that comes up are classic novels. Can anyone advise if there is anything else I'm supposed to do?

I frequently make purchases for Kindle books from the US Amazon site and do not have a US credit card or US address. I do have a Canadian credit card/address though and this might be why it is allowed as the publishing rules in both countries are similar. I know I can not make a purchase of books from the UK Amazon site as I do not have a UK address. I believe it has more to do with the address than the country where the credit card is issued. If you are having trouble downloading some of the books, just check to make sure that you have your "region" set to USA or Canada. If it is set to "Middle East" then you can't download many books because of publishing rights. (Originally ran in to this problem when I first started using the Kindle app.)

Lynne, do you know if you have to have a US credit card to buy books for kindle via amazon. I have an amazon account but it's not letting me purchase and kindle books.

I've never had sucess with Kitsune's approach. But lately I've downloaded Kindle for Ipad app and have been able to download purchases and samples from Amazon. I think this process is dependent on having a US iTunes account with a US credit card. When I had a Qatar based iTunes account the selection available was paltry!! I was told by Apple/ITunes support that I could create an account without a credit card and use ITunes credit but it never worked--and I tried several times to do this. In all cases I got error messages that Apple/ITunes help would not reslove or respond to (really!).

i know this! i had a long thread somehere on here about this very thing but, to cut a super long story short, just take your ipad to virgin (i went to the one in landmark) and they will fix you up with a US account and then you just need to go and buy some itunes credit (there are a couple of shops in landmark that sell them) load up your credit, and away you go! i spent months trying to get it fixed, and felt so stupid when it was so easy to sort out with virgin. happy book buying! :-)

Do you have an apple account for purchasing music etc. If you do there is a section for books and audio books you can download. There is also an apple app for books where you can buy and download samples of the books

I can't reply answer specifically about the Ipad, because I use a Kindle, but I put 'Free ebooks' or 'Free kindle books' into Facebook search, and pages came up with free Ipad books. The free books generally are the classics, but these pages were 'modern' novels.
