Do any shops sell Merrell sandals, or something similar with proper arch support? I am really paying the price for living in flip flops and I need to get some properly supportive summer shoes.

I think they did as I usually look at kids shoes too because my feet are so small! Can't be sure though, as I went in a lot of shoe shops when I was hunting for Ecco.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but does anyone know if there are kids shoes in the ecco store? DDs favorite <ie the only ones she will wear> shoes are now too small and i was hoping we could replace them with the same ones in a bigger size. thanks

I was in Hyatt plaza and the entrance nearest to homes r us has naturalizer ( I know, not what Amy is looking for but just thought I would add) and quite a few of the newer styles of birkenstocks

There is a Birkenstock store in "The Mall-" I don't know if they sell any shoes that could deal with the water, but for sandals, they have pretty good arch support. Might also try Timberland / Sun, Sand and Sports in City Center.

Thanks for the recs everyone, I managed to get some reasonably nice Ecco sandals in the Ecco shop in Centrepoint - they are SO comfy! I am still on the lookout for some decent hiking-style sandals with arch support, like Merrells, for dog walking (ones which can be worn in the sea), of which there are plenty in men's and children's sizes, but none for women.

I don't need any special shoes but I'm free to accompany anybody to Dubai to offer my opinion on their purchases ;)

GoodMorning thanks so much for sharing that! For those of us who suffer with foot problems, a flight to Dubai is well worth it!

I have foot problems and I have recently discovered Crocs. They have tons of styles these days and you can order online and have them delivered to aramax, since they are super light it shouldn't cost much! I wear an ugly pair around the house because they are way better than going barefoot or with slippers...I think they are pretty tru to size and I find that the sandal types you are pretty safe ordering online because they don't have to fit perfect as with a closed toe type shoe. I found one that i really liked and then ordered it in two more colours. I saw the sandal ones that I have in the random shoe shop in landmark last weekend, I don't know what it is called but it is one that sells all sorts. Also, have you tried anything from GEOX? They have a shop in Landmark as well. I think I have seen a few pairs of merrell but def ecco in the shoemart in city centre but last time I looked I don't remember there being any sandals, just fall/winter. I liked fit flops but if you're not used to wearing something in between your toes like me, I found that it bothered me.

Am home now but I bought Merrell sandals in the large shoe centre in Landmark mall. Wore them solid for the 2 years we lived there and they were great.

Shoe Mart. There's a branch in City Center, and also one in Centerpoint. I have seriously problem feet - fallen arches, pronation - no fun at all. Ecco sandals are so completely wearable, I love them. I was in Dubai recently and was so excited to find an Ecco shop in Dubai Mall. A much larger collection that I've found locally. I found a pair that I loved, and then ordered another pair from Amazon. Same make, same style, same size. COMPLETELY different fit! When will I ever learn that shoes should NOT be bought online! edited by RachelA on 12/06/2011

Amy 77 the only place I have found Ecco in Doha is in City Center - I am not sure of name of shop. It is on same side of Mall as Home Center, but can't recall which level of the mall. Maybe someone else will know the name?? It is big shoe shop, with many different brands. Ecco has a small space are half way down the shop, on the right. There was a young man there who I found very knowledgable and helpful. He told me the difference between ordinary Ecco and Wave Technology Ecco. I could certainly feel the difference in support between the two different styles. I have walked Europe and Doha in mine, and they are still as good as new.

Thanks guys. Catonclan I would need to try them on first due to funny feet, so Aramex not an option in this instance. Silver6 - good call, my physio used to swear by Ecco! Are they widely available over here?

Last summer I bought Ecco walking sandles from shop in City Center - I am now an Ecco Shoe convert, and have converted my 86yr mother and my sister also wear them now with same enthusiastic repsonse. I have had alot of pain in my feet since being in Qatar. Some mornings I can barely walk, because of pain. I think any foot problems are made worse by living/walking on the hard surfaces in Doha - i.e. concrete and tile floors, and hard pavements. We very rarely walk on carpet, soft grass or sand. I tryed birkenstocks, which were OK, but Ecco walking sandles are the best. Goodluck finding the right shoe for you. P.S. - look for the Ecco sandles that have Wave Technology - they had much better Arch support edited by Silver6 on 12/06/2011

If no luck here, you could try the aramex route perhaps, using amazon. Its expensive, but can be useful for essentials.

No, I need physio-spec proper arch support suitable for over pronation (FitFlops only suit people with under pronation).
