Thanks for advice and numbers everyone - we had a very good day with Al Farden, very nice - but a little pricey, but excellent customer service.
We will definitely go direct to the property owner/manager - we found this worked today.
Also sometimes they will tell you there is nothing available as the villa is being renovated after people have moved out! It took a while but after insisting we didn't mind a state of disrepair (and keeping a fairly open mind) they would show us properties that weren't officially available.
Oh one other thing - unless you have paid a deposit, nothing is secured. We thought we had taken an apartment and it turned out that someone else put a deposit on it while we were sorting out the cheque book! Luckily another one in the same building came up a week later...
When we arrived summer of 2011 I was 36 weeks pregnant and definitely not willing to do the legwork but neither I found were the agents .I was ok with paying but not ok with being lead up the garden path. Some compounds will not let any agents in regardless of whether commission is paid or not.
We were told compounds were full or only for companies but when we approached them they had vacancies .
Ask the watchmen for the managers number rather than if there is space. The manager should will who is shortly vacating , the watchmen only of empty villas.
Thank you for your replies. I understand the resentment of paying an agents fees, but many of the places we have been to will not show us round. They all say the compounds are full. Wether they are I cannot comment - I am not convinced every compound is full....However, I feel the gateman is told to do this.....
I will try the contact numbers.thanks again
If you have time you are much better off looking yourself .
The major property owners like like Al Asmak have websites and lists in the newspaper.
Agents in my experience only show property that they will get comssions for and many property owners will not do so.
Nowadays many charge the tenant two.
I resent paying a month or two's commission to someone when you can do the same deal easily yourself.
hello all - I cannot find the thread regarding real estate agent details. I have tried a couple of agents and they do not return calls (usual story). Can anyone provide the name/contact of a reliable 'estate agent' who will return calls and recommend some accommodation?
In addition, what is a reasonable price for a 3/4 bedded villa Sf or ff?
In anticipation - thanks
