any positive stories about those moving from dubai to abu dhabi?

we are a young family with an 18 month old who've been in dubai 4 years. with a job offer in abu dhabi and the commute a killer we are considering moving (if the offer turns out to be worthwhile).
we're researching accommodation options/ lifestyle but are wondering if there are any with a positive stories of the move or perhaps just general advice.

we are a young family with an 18 month old who've been in dubai 4 years. with a job offer in abu dhabi and the commute a killer we are considering moving (if the offer turns out to be worthwhile). we're researching accommodation options/ lifestyle but are wondering if there are any with a positive stories of the move or perhaps just general advice. many tia i would not recommend doing the commute, my hubs had to do it many times of the many years living here, at least now it can only take 1 or so hours compared to 3 hours a few years ago! but it takes a lot of concentration........ ad is more quieter than dxb, there is less activities than dubai, but of course its not far away to jet up the road once in a while. i would do it just for not having to do the drive. also best to do it now as your child is young very difficult to get into the schools in ad as there are not so many as in dubai etc.

we moved here a year ago after being in dubai 3.5 years. have found it to be much more of a community feel. different yes, i likened it to moving to lands end from Vegas... depends I suppose what you want to do in your free time. There are loads of kids around in all the compounds.

AD is very family orientated, you will find that most compounds have loads of little ones playing in the parks and Mums get together for play dates etc. Accomomodation shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as you have decided where you would like to be, off the island is growing and compounds like Al Reef very popular for young families.
