We brought 3 bottles of wine in our luggage from UK last december and did not get any issue while entering UAE. I got caught once doing this and they confiscated it. I had bought a further 4litres from Duty Free though :quite:

Both visitors and residents can buy 4L no licence required.

Does this apply to a Dubai resident or only a visitor ? And if a resident, does she need an alcohol licence?

Buy your 4L on arrival in Dubai, the duty free shops are beside baggage reclaim, by the time you've shopped your bags should have appeared, unless you have a very particular brand you want to take in your hold luggage most things are available there.

Hi, I note on various UAE websites that it is allowed (for a non-Muslim) to bring in 4 liters of alcohol when flying into Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Do you know whether this means that the alcohol can already be bought at the country from which you're flying, put into your suitcase, checked in and taken with you? Or should this alcohol be purchased at the duty free shop at the airport of departure? thanks in advance!
