If your landlord is happy to keep them in his/her name you could try that way? We did it that way until visas came through in the beginning, worth a try? Hope it works out for you :)

Welcome to the world of a state monopoly on telecom. No there is no other company. No they won't give you the connection without the visa. If the company that is managing your residence visa can expedite the visa process, that is pretty much your only hope. How do people manage? They either spend a fortune on internet cafes, or borrow their friends' or neighbours' connections or simply do without, for internet. You may be able to figure something out with a satellite dish for TV, but I'm not sure. You could also check with Etisalat about whether it's possible to purchase prepaid internet time without a residence visa. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks so much busybee and bardophile! Yikes, this is frustrating. Is there any other company that might be willing to flex without the residence visa; i've been hearing that some people are still waiting for residence visas even after having been there for about 5 months! So how does one go about without internet or tv...is there absolutely no way at all?? nope you cannot get around it, its down to your pro in your company as to how long it takes to issue a visa it can be done quickly or not........ the prob now is that they have changed the rules back in january so it now is different and is taking longer than before.

The rules on these things keep changing. Officially, you need a residence visa, but when we first arrived (2 years ago) my husband managed to get an eVision connection (for TV only) without yet having a residence visa. Internet we were not able to manage until the residence visa was processed.

Hi all, I've heard that one can't apply to get internet/cable packgages without a residence visa. Is this true? Is there another way to go about getting tv and internet set up if you dont have a residence visa. Any suggestions will be helpful and deeply appreciated:) Thanks!
