Does anyone have a recommendation for a good child psychologist/educational psychologist in Abu Dhabi. I need someone who can works with young children (pre-school) with behavioural issues potentially related to ADD/ADHD. Any ideas? I want an assessment done of one of my children. Thanks in advance.

Many thanks again. I have heard mixed reports on BIL in terms of assessing children's behavioural issues. All unchartered ground for me.

bil is new in abu dhabi, obviously been around in dubai for a long while, they have set up a school here too. but be weary that if you go to the school you cannot get a transfer etc i believe. its not registered as such. havent heard anything bad about bil. i know one parent who takes their boy there, and she is quite happy with what they are offering him but then every child has a different issue.

Ladies Many thanks for your response. My son is young so am hoping medical intervention not required yet but we shall see. I'll get in contact with the American Centre. Also have you had any experience with the British Insitute for Learning?

Try The American Centre. Dr Yousef is great. as said they will do the assessments there as well. yes they will prescribe Strattera but thats not true they can also prescribe Concerta and Ritalin as well, those are the only choices for here. They have been trying for years to get the patches for Ritalin with no success, it has to be registered and I know SKMC have been trying for 5 years! so do not hold your breath. The only other place to go is SKMC but its a "local government" hospital, so expats are not allowed usually. The American Centre runs a ADD/ADHD sessions on a forthnightly basis i think for parents, like a suport group i believe. http://www.americancenteruae.com/

Hello, Our school has recommended Dr Karen from the American Clinic. She does very thorough reports too apparantley for educational adivice etc.. Dr Yousef from the same clinic prescribes the meds. Unfortunately you will not get the same high level of expertise and choice of medications as you would in a Australia or similar but there is some help here. Strattera seems to be the only prescription they deal with here for ADD or ADHD. See how you go anyway. Good luck. xx
