So I am a Dubai Residence Visa Holder but we live in Abu Dhabi, when DH got a new offer in Abu Dhabi we shifted, they don't refresh your residence Visa, only the Employees and now I recently got my file opened, with a bit of a hassle, all they needed was a letter from one of the licensing authority (who sat on the same floor and issues the actual Licenses) that I have never opened a file in Dubai and the other documents required. The best think I 'd suggest is to make a trip to the Dubai's Licensing Department, no one answers the phone even if they do, most of the people on Abu Dhabi desk do not speak much of English. I had to take four trips just to get my file opened. Good luck!

if you prove that you live in dubai ie contract, bills etc, you can transfer your driving licence over not sure about the driving lessons, but i would have thought that you could go to one in dubai and try your luck, seems silly driving down here if you dont need to, emirates driving is the only one really and its in mussafah. i would say that if you can wait for the summer if you are going back to uk do it in the uk as you will have to resit the test once you move permanently back to uk if thats the case.
Good morning Abu Dhabi ladies and gents, we need to get our 18 year old DD a drivers license and are in a predicament as we live in Dubai on an Abu Dhabi visa, so.... she can not learn here or get her license here. I am prepared to ferry her to Abu Dhabi in order to learn and get a license. I have tried to contact Emirates Driving Institute but can not get to speak to anyone. Sounds ridiculous but true and the number they give me for the driving school seems to be incorrect so am looking for another driving school. Searched on here and another reader asked for schools in Abu Dhabi and got told Belhasa and Al Ahli, neither of which i can find in Abu Dhabi so suspect they are in Dubai. Can anyone help recommend a driving school please?
