Hallo everybody, we've decided to get a fulltime, live-in maid. We haven't found someone yet, but I need to give my husband a rundown of the money involved. I've read somewhere that there is a 5000 AED deposit necessary? And then you have to pay for her medical card as well. Please can someone give me some clarity? There is so much conflicting info out there, I don't know who to believe!!!!:\:

Hi gazelle. The agency helps you just to find someone. They don't really do anything else and charge you exorbitant fees and of course if you don't know where to start it's your only choice. We didn't have the best experience with agencies as they aren't really concerned about finding the right person for you and they don't allow to get in touch with the maid before the fees are paid. The only thing you know is about the person what's written in the short 1 page CV provided. Well, that's the experience we and some friends made. I would suggest to ask around in the neighborhood. Most maids here look to bring some family members over or know of someone who want to change families or who's contract is expiring soon. Look for someone who is already here, then you can arrange a face-to-face meeting. We met with 3 or 4 girls before we met the right one and now we are glad having done it this way because certain things look perfect on paper but it's different when you meet in person. An agency wouldn't compensate your fees and you would have to go through all the trouble again to find someone else. Tha's just my experience but I didn't see the point of an agency if there is other ways that are more convenient.

Hi everyone I would like some more infos about hiring a full time maid. Is it possible to get one without having to incur these exorbitant agency fees? I would also like to know what is the average monthly salary for a maid? Tx

in all the nearly 15 years i have never had a maid so havent gone through the process, but its not cheap. yes 5k deposit, equivalent to x 12 salary per year (each nationality there is a minimum salary required), if you sponsor someone you are responsible for their health care, you are responsible to provide accommodation/food etc too.
