Moving from Doha to Abu Dhabi - British curriculum schools

Hello ladies,
We are considering a move to AD....currently live in Doha, Qatar. Can anyone who has done that move from Doha to Qatar advise on schools as I am interested in a comparison or any comments. My two children are now both in DESS (Doha English Speaking School) which is a super school here, they are so happy and we did have to wait a while to get them in there (changed schools already once here in Doha).

But now there are mutterings from DH about a potential move to AD. The school issue is a an important one for us so wondered if you had any comparisons. DESS here in Doha is the British Embassy school and the oldest established school here...I have been reading about BSAK. Any comments? Which is the best British curriculum school in AD? (I really don't want to have move them twice again if we decide to go to AD!)

Hi Qatcat. We've gone the other way - and we had our kids in Al Yasmina, which was brilliant. Great facilities, kids very happy.... The Pearl is another one if the Aldar schools, but it is in town. BSAK is the oldest british school and is good as well. These were the best of british curriculum schools in AD, but that was a year ago and I know some new schools (Brighton college, my friend is very happy there) have started up and are gaining reputations. People still in AD can probably help you with those.... bsak still has the best results, but of course there are more schools now to choose from, all the aldar schools, brighton college (which is selective so you cannot compare to any other school), british international school. you are best to get your accommodation once you know where the school is, traffic is bad at rush hour, as a lot of people have to commute from off island to on island and vice versa because you are locked into a 1 year deal, and accommodation is still expensive so a lot more choice off island.

I suggest you plan your move AFTER you secure places for your LOs. My kids have been on the waiting list of all schools mentioned below for the past year, except for Brighton.
