I'm new to the boards here but I have lived in AD for 4 years. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on some of the new waxes I have recently read about where they are less painful during the removal. My current spa is an older one in the city and I have not been satisifed with them for the past several months and reluctant to go back. She used a kitchen knife to stir the wax and placed it on my skin with the hot metal "down there" rather than the wood stick and it really hurt and I was red for days.

Also, any advice for a good spa for men that's not too expensive yet quality? My significant other has a noticed his nails are in really bad shape, very dry cuticles, skin peeling, etc. Do any of them do a manicure for men besides trimming the nail as they've done at the one he's been to? I know back home they do everything including clear polish if the man requests!

Sorry it took so long to reply...it's been a bit hectic around here. Thanks for the tip. I'll check out Sisters. Abu Dhabi Week just had a blip about some men's salons that I'll have the BF try.

I go to Sisters beauty salon on 28th Street to be waxed. They use the lycon pink wax there which is DEFINITELY less painful than the normal type. (I was a bit sceptical until I tried it) It's quite an expensive salon, but very VERY clean, and the staff are all very attentive and well trained. In fact, a new wooden stick is used for each and every application. I also have my nails done there, by a lovely Polish girl called Joanna. She is simply the best, an absolute perfectionist. Sorry, can't comment about a men's salon!
