Hi ladies, hoping you can help :) I am just afew weeks pregnant after IVF treatment in dubai. I am 41 and this is my 1st pregnancy so I guess I am high risk (there were also issues of OHSS and glucose resistance during the treatment). Basically I understand Corniche may be best for delivery in complicated cases, its early days but am thinking of registering at 12 weeks just so I have the option for delivery if necessary there (unfortunately my ADNIC insurance does not cover 100% at corniche). I am also abit concerned that due to age etc I will not be seen by midwives and end up being scanned etc by different doctors which is unsettling although the ante natal classes are a bonus to being there. Anyway Al Noor hospital is covered and I have read some positive stuff and understand they may also have some parenting classes?. I need to make an appointment to see someone in january for my 6 week scan and have had different names (Dr Marwan, Dr Baschaar at airport road and Dr Cherin at khalifa st) all mentioned. Can I please have your views on some of the above, I dont mind a male doc as long as they are thorough. I also want to ensure I have the screening tests including for downs at 11 weeks and I dont know if these are offered there? As an alternative some ladies have had all the lead up scans done at Cure clinic (Dr Sawsan Abdullah) and Hospital Franco Emirien (forget the name of doc?) and as these are also covered by ADNIC am also wondering whether it is worth considering them. Its all getting abit overwhelming and confusing being 1st time and not having family here for support so really hoping you ladies can shed some light with your views, really appreciate any help. Hope all have a happy and healthy 2011 and thanks for your help in advance xx i would register at both, i would go for private for antenatal and for the birth go to the corniche, they defo had the set up in case of any issues etc.

its seems odd that its not covered for the government hospital but is for the private. i would go for corniche has they have the experience and also they have all the equipment that you will need. yes there are shared rooms but if you have no probs then you are in and out for 1 nite. when i used the corniche it was some 12 years ago when it was a nitemare downstairs, they have improved that an awful lot, and i had to see the docs as previous complications with the first one, so had no choice and it could take a while longer if you have no probs then go to the midwives. the care is much much better upstairs when you need it.

I'm seeing Dr Chirin at Al Noor Khalifa. I have no complications, just routine follow-up, so i can't tell if she's exceptionally good. My insurance covers 100% in most private hospitals, and 0 % in corniche, nevertheless, i am seriously considerning giving birth there. The only negative point about corniche is the shared rooms. Apart from that, my guess would be that corniche makes the best option. Good Luck.
