First things first, would be finding a school that you like and has room for your children. School fees are extremely expensive here, so it is important to find out how much money your husbands work gives for tuition fees. School registration process is in January for most schools, therefore you may have some difficulty. I agree that Abu Dhabi is a safe place to live and raise a family. It depends on the housing allowance your husbands company give you and what type of locations you enjoy (downtown city pace or more quiet). The cost of living is more expensive in Abu Dhabi than in Dubai, so if you do pricing on websites that is an FYI. Household expenses range depending on what is included in the rent. There is a large expat community in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, so you should fit in well. Best of luck with the transition and feel free to post all questions on the forum. We are all here to help.

FIRST get organised with school places. UAE is a very safe place to raise your kids. suggest you surf these forums, lots and lots of good advice and reviews. Many Australians here. First find out how much the company will pay towards school fees, as there is often a limit and then compare to annual school fees (available on school websites). Your 3 year old can go to school in a school or a nursery, or stay home for another year. Look at how much debt you have in Australia and calculate the amount in dirhams per month you will need to send back. The exchange rate is really bad at the moment. Buy Me A Pony started a thread regarding the cost of living in Dubai, which might help you. Another poster may ave the link for you. HTH :)
