Hi ,

Do you know of any good English touter for year 3, my daughter is 7 yrs old and I'm trying to elevate her English skills, so she is able to join Bighton college next year, she is already in one of the reputed school In Abu dhabi however I feel she needs to boost her language skills so she can get accepted in Brighton College in the next academic year.

I'm looking for some one with a proven teaching record

Can you help ?

Hi NKH, As per Busy Bees comments about Brighton College, yes, it is only 2 years old, but they have fully qualified staff with UK teaching experience, excellent facilities and resources, learning support staff for Special Needs AND Gifted and Talented, not to mention outstanding GCSE results this year. Repton, on the other hand, does not have such a glowing reputation. Check the numerous threads from staff and parents on the TES ( Times Educational Supplement ) for their opinion of the school. Hope this is of some help to you. did i ever say that bcad doesnt employ properly qualified teachers, nope, dont think i did, bsak and aldar always ask for at least 2 years of teaching experience. my point that you are missing, is that not every child is gifted and talented and academic and to put them in a school that is selective may not be the right one for "every" child. i take it that you are a bcad mum, and thats fine, yes its a new school and its good that there is much more competition between the schools as in the past you just didnt have any choice, in british curriculum there was just bsak and cambridge high school, that was it..! it will keep all the schools on their toes.

Hi NKH, There are plenty of tutors both in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and contrary to what busybee2 has said they ARE allowed to tutor privately and on their husband's visas as long as their teaching hours do not exceed 10 hours a week. As per norm I would ask to see teaching certificates and references but if the tutor is qualified and experienced this will take no time at all. Feel free to send me your email address and I will happily forward you the numbers of fully qualified tutors based in Abu Dhabi. Hahaha, sorry for the typo, this usually happens when you use I pad with auto spell check lol, thanks for you reply, Repton school is on my shortlist however it will only happen in 2015 for yr 3 -6. Do you have more details on Repton ? Any feedback ? nope they were very late in opening, havent heard anything. but i am not one to move kids just because its a "uk independant school" its a selective sch so they will take the cream off the top, but not all kids are academic and not all kids can deal with the consistent pushing and testing etc....

I am assuming that you mean "tutor" obviously you may need more english skills lol. You will find that its illegal in auh for private tutoring apart from through a company, the only ones that allows this to my knowledge on their visas are music teachers etc. If already in a good school why change, just because BCAD is a selective school doesnt mean to say that its any better, especially when you are only in year 3, BCAD are relatively new. Why not look at the new Repton and then Cranleigh too!
