hello, i am new to Abu Dhabi -and need to take my two cats to the vets for a check-up and vaccinations update. Can anyone recommend someone who is good and not too over-priced? preferably on-island...

thanks!

Hi, I had my cat sterilized and vaccinated at the national vet (on the churches area) and we are very happy with them. Prices are also very reasonable and they do provide boarding as well.

GVC is out in Khalifa A, near the pink shops. Here is their website - it should have directions - http://www.germanvet.ae/

Where is the GVC? I used BVC for a stray cat I had sterilised and homed and I was shocked at the extortionate prices (FF rates were double the Dubai ones) and I didn't even think they were that good. The vet I used in Dubai was fab and I would rather take my kitties back there if I can't find anyone decent here.

I used Brit Vet initially and now use American Vet for my cat. Both are good but now use American Vet as their boarding is slightly cheaper and they include food whereas nowadays Brit Vet you have to pay extra or take your own. Both have been fine for vaccinations and check-ups.

The GVC is very cat oriented - the vet likes cats! I don't use them however, as they don't help out with the strays - they won't accept strays handed in to be turned over to SAD, whereas BVC and AVC both do so willingly. All 3 vets (AVC, BVC and GVC) are good though, so it comes down to personal preference and convenience.

I used to take my cat to The British Vets(02 6650085). Charges were about the same as the American Vets AVC (02 6655044) both of which are on island. However since boarding my cat in the summer at the German Vets GVC in Khalifa city ive remained with them. They are all about the same price wise, GVC might be a bit cheaper, but i can also get appointments, grooming appointments and boarding alot easier. The staff are also very helpful(not that the other 2 arent of course) The only downside is that its a bit further away but no big issue. The number if you need it 02 5562024......Hope your kitty likes xx
