Hello everyone,

I moved to AD 5 months ago and recently started working. I've gotten so busy juggling work and house chores that I'm getting no time to lose the unsightly tyres. I got married last year and was pretty lean at the time of my wedding but after that have only been on a weight gaining spree. :( Don't feel like looking at myself in the mirror or getting pics clicked. Would really like suggestions on how to lose weight(gradually) while living a busy life.

TIA.

Hey Bella, Thanks so much for the reply. I finish work by 6-6:30 and just feel like taking a nap after I get home. If it was only my schedule I had to manage I would have been doing things at my own pace. But it is the husband's whims that take over my own wishes. He's very supportive though but we both want to spend some time together after a long and tiring day(he usually comes home by 6:30-7). We have an amazing gym in the building but I've only gone there thrice(while I was jobless), I went for a few RPM classes too in between but haven't been able to get the momentum going. Just feel sleepy most part of the day and wish a crane would take me to the gym or RPM. Yeah I've become that lazy! I've lost a lot of weight(30kgs) in the past but I think complacency has set in now. Coupled with other things that change once you get married but I don't want to break records, just want to be what I was 10 months ago. Sigh!

I totally know where you are coming from. Before throwing a busy lifestyle into the mix, life here seems to be more indulgent (more eating out, Krispy Kremes on every corner etc.) then throw in very little opportunity to burn it off with day to day activities as you can't walk anywhere and I gained about 10kgs within a couple of years when I first moved to the UAE, and only when my fat clothes got too tight did I decide I had to do something! I am getting married next month, so along with planning that, working full time, studying for my LLM and trying to save the animal world one stray cat at a time, I definitely know what it is like to be juggling things so here are a few things I do: * I go to the gym straight after work, once I reach home I either find a million odd jobs that need doing or I just don't feel like dragging myself back out anywhere. But luckily I finish work by 4, which is handy as by the time most people are finishing work I have been to the gym too. * I do gym classes rather than using machines, as I am more inclineed to keep them going regularly. I do classes like circuit which give an allover workout in an hour so I can spend less time overall as you are just working so hard. Plus I find classes more social so you don't feel like you are 'just' at the gym. * I prepare my lunch for work for the week at the weekend where possible (curries, chilli, soups etc.) and potion them out. I can make sure they are healthy and I also make sure I eat little and regularly so I never get hungry. Pumpkin seeds, berries etc are my fav as snacks during the day. I also totally changed my diet so that I eat very few refined carbs (only as treats) and have everything wholegrain, eat more fruits and veggies (but I hate salad) and I don't eat meat so have plenty of lentils, beans and quorn, which are less calorie dense than meat anyway. * If you can, have a cleaner to come in and do a onceover of the house once a week then all you have to do is keep on top of things, as well as some of the time consuming jobs like ironing. Hope this helps, mostly it just requires being organised and having a schedule. :)
