It’s without a doubt that the UAE has some of the world’s most expensive vehicle plates
For a couple of digits that you place on your car, a vehicle plate number acts more than just an accessory for your car.
It can also be an indication of your financial capabilities and/or job role - it is known that the Royal Family of Dubai owns all the vehicle plates from digits 1 up to 10 and more.
Therefore, a vehicle plate number can indicate a lot more than you might think.
And on November 11, a vehicle license plate sold for AED5 million at an auction in Sharjah.
The vehicle plate, SHJ-7, received the most bids and was sold to the lucky differ for that whopping amount of money at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre.
The following vehicle plates also sold for substantial amounts of money that day:
- SHJ-20 > AED1.9 million
- SHJ-14 > AED1.8 million
- SHJ-55 > AED1.5 million
- SHJ-69 > AED1.25 million
The most expensive number ever sold
The vehicle plate sold on November 11 was not the most expensive vehicle plate to be sold in the UAE.
Earlier in the year, an Indian businessman bought a DXB vehicle plate for AED33 million to adorn on his blue Rolls Royce.
The vehicle number place, D5 is the most expensive one to be sold yet.
