They are hawkmoth caterpillars and will eat your plant overnight if they like it (sadly, they love the leaves on my lemon and lime trees) but they are harmless to you and will eventually turn into huge hawk moths!!! Many years ago, my dad declared war on them because they kept eating his prize fuschia's and he used to go around at night with a torch and pick them off the plants and put them in a bucket and then take them about 5 miles away and throw them into the bushes! I used to think he was mad but, now as a happy gardener, I see that he was just being humane and not lathering them with pesticides!
why do you want to kill them? They are just baby butterflies/moths. It they bother you just move them to another plant/tree where you won't see them.
Nature is having a hard enough time here as it is, don't make it worse for something completely innocent.
I found a long worm yesterday in my soil when the gardener was mixing for repotting for plants.
Good sign to have them.
definatly caterpillers !!
there are no worms in dubai !
pick them off and feed them to the birds x
I just found at least 5 big green worms on my outdoor plant. Yeuk...it is absolutely disgusting!!! Sorry I'm a city girl, not use to that kind of thing!!!
The thing is I really like this plant, how can I get rid of them??? Is it too late, is the plant sick now???
I isolated it from the others. Any advice?
