i did ceramic for a year.......no regrets........yes they did get discoloured if i ate something like a curry but decent flossing and brushing kept them clean enough. Mine were on top teeth so i wanted something less obvious. not sure of dubai prices but i paid Dhs6,000 for mine in Muscat.
I had ceramic, but only for 6 months. I regretted getting ceramic. Not only does it get discoloured, it looks like you have huge teeth from far. It looks horrible on photos too. Go for the metal ones, they are cooler. You can even get funky multi coloured ones.
Thanks Bella and Emily - I've been thinking I should just get on with it and do the best thing, which seems to be the metal option. Like you say it will be worth it am sure, because the thought of two years of metal versus the rest of my life with teeth I'm unhappy with is a small price to pay. Thanks a lot for your feedback though - it really helps to hear from people who've been through it!
I went for metal for the same reasons (stronger and work quicker). My teeth were incredibly stubborn so who knows how long it would have taken if I had gone for ceramic!! Once you have them on, you will notice loads of people with them on and I doubt anyone will give you a second glance because of them - it's really not quite as horrendous as you might thing to have a metal mouth as an adult. I am 26 and had to have them put back on just before christmas as my teeth had moved due to bad retainer placement, but off again next week, yippie :)
I went for metal as according to my ortho, they are stronger and work faster. Also, ceramic ones can get stained by tea and coffee. Granted, I had a metal mouth for 2 years but I think it was worth it.
Hi there,
I've finally got around to getting my teeth corrected at the tender age of 37 and three quarters!! I'm going to Dr Nicholas and Asp at Healthcare City and so far, so good. The only decision to make is whether or not to go for ceramic or metal on the top teeth... cosmetically they may look a bit better for the first 5 or 6 months but then they go yellow / brown apparently and so not great. also they are thicker and less comfortable than the metal. So it seems like the metal is the best bet but I just think they look SO awful. I'd really love to hear of anyone's done the full two years with ceramics and how they found them, if they discoloured etc or experiences / thoughts on the metal.
Also, has anyone else seen Dr Ali??!
TIA!
