I am going to Doha for a night to join DH who is there for a conference. I understand that you can get visa on arrival but must pay by credit card. I have no credit card. Does anyone know whether I can pay cash? Or if I can get a visa in Dubai before hand?

I called the Qatar Consulate in Dubai this morning. After several attempts I finally get thru. Here is the conversation - Me - I like find out about applying for a visa QE - What passport do you have? Me - Malaysian QE - No need (Note: Puzzled as I understand I need one???) Me - I understand I can get on on arrival? QE- Yes Me - I understand that the only way to pay for the visa on arrival is by credit card. I have no credit card. QE - [b'>You have no credit card is your problem not my problem!![/b'> I continue to try and ask the guy on the phone for what documents to bring and what time they open and he just couldn't wait to get off the phone. He said, "From 8.30 - 11.30 am BYE BYE!!" Click! I am completely dumbfounded!!??? I am now thinking this is so not worth the hassle of just going for one night!!

There are new visa regulations applicable from Dec 25, 2010 and to quote a poster on an old thread on the same topic: As of 25th December 2010, Qatar has new visa rules for GCC residents. Previously, male GCC residents, that are not citizens of the 33 countries that could get visas on arrival, could get visas on arrival provided they had a job title that said manager or above. Female residents had to apply beforehand or had to be accompanying husband to get visa on arrival. As of the 25th of last month, this has changed. If you are not a citizen of the aforementioned 33 countries, then you have to apply for a visa beforehand. If your residency says development manger in any form, expect reluctance/refusal at the visa counters. My husband, an Indian citizen, was boarding an Emirates flight to Doha when he was told he could no longer fly without getting a visa beforehand. He and about 30 other people were turned away at the boarding gates a week back. Indians and other Arab nationals now have to apply and procure visas prior to travel. debit cards also accepted no need to be a "manager", just have to have a dubai residence visa with min 6 months validity That is not true. U need to have "manager" status and above. If you are female, they wont let u travel alone if you are on husband's visa that says "Housewife". U need to have your husband with you in tow and his visa should say manager and above. lol, so one can only be either housewife or manager? my visa says none, it states my profession. and i am travelling to doha quite often, in fact i was there this monday. not sure about housewife visas, but probably they need an NOC from husband allowing them to travel. maybe you should ask on the Qatar Forum.

I am on DH's visa and am travelling alone to meet him there. I will call the Qatar embassy on Sunday. Do I have to go to Abu Dhabi for the visa or can I do it at the Consulate office here in Dubai? There is a visa gift card/pre paid card I will check out as well. Thanks ladies!

If you don't have a credit card, there is a window where you get a little e-card (sadly can't remember how much it costs) and you load the money for the visa onto that -- think it's 100 QR.

You can get visa on arrival in case if DOJ stated as Manager in your visa. In case if the DOJ anywhere below that role - you will have to apply for visa in advance. In case if your visa on your husband - you are allowed to travel with him (hand by hand) considering that you husabnd would have either the visa or DOJ Manager. In cas if you are on his visa and you will travel on your own - you will have to apply for visa in advance. Cheers! When r you planing to go? My DH is going there next week and i am planning also to join him for the weekend. =)
