Gas on the Palm
After a lot of searching I finally found a company, Al Fahidi that would deliver/replace the gas for my BBQ. They told me they are not supposed to come to the Palm and sat on the road outside, not near my building. But If you call them they will arrange somehow to get it to you but you may need to put it in your car boot and do a swap on a road.
Apparently at Jumeirah Islands and Village they have to use Lootah which charges triple the price that others charge so people drive out of JI and meet these guys under 'a black cover' to get their gas.
Amazing! It's called a monopoly I think. Price should be around 75AED for a big BBQ cylinder. I gave them a big tip as they actually helped me get the old bottle and brought the new one up but they had to carry it a long way because of the 'regulations' and ban. Even then I was told Lootah don't deliver to the Palm as we are not supposed to have gas BBQ's. Apparently. Where do they make these rules up and where do you find out about if they are true or not!
