For your contents insurance you really need to thing of absolutely everything that you have in your home. For the kitchen, for example, think of how much you would have to pay to replace absolutely everything - pots and pans, knives and forks, crockery, kettle, toaster, microwave, coffee maker and so on. Then apply this to absolutely every room in your house. What is in there? Bedding? Clothing? Towels? Rugs? CDs, DvDs. Cushions, lamps. And then look at what you may have outside your home - BBQ, garden furniture etc. And all this apart from the furniture. Think about your TV (plasma?), computer equipment, printer, hi-fi stuff. Curtains/blinds? Even your clothes. Really, have a good look around your home and look at absolutely everything that you have and try and work out what it would cost you if you lost everything. Bet you'd be surprised. And of course this doesn't include such things as jewellery, cameras etc. Go on, go through each and every room in your home and try to work out just how much it would cost if you lost absolutely everything - I really think you'd be surprised.
