My son who is 24 is facing possible jail time of 3 months, plus fine of up to Dh6000 and possible driving ban of an unknown period (minimum 3 months but no limit). Basically he came to Dubai to work and I hired a car for him which he was allowed to drive because he has a UK driving licence. While driving the hire car his company applied for his visa and stamped it in his passport. While waiting for his ID card to arrive so that he could apply for his UAE driving licence, he had a small accident in the car park and nobody was hurt. He called the police and was taken to the police station where he ended up in lock up awaiting a court case for driving without a licence. I managed to get him out but it seems that he was breaking the law the moment his visa was stamped in his passport by driving without a UAE licence. He goes to court on 13th April and we are extremely worried about the possible jail time. If anyone knows a good local lawyer who can assist him with the case please let me know urgently. If you have been to Traffic Court for anything similar with or without a lawyer, please advise the outcome.

We have had good experience with Mahmood Hussain law firm. They have an all emirati lawyers team and were very quick with our two cases against a person for property fraud. I am not sure if they deal with traffic violation cases though but no harm in asking? Hope this helps.
