Hi Ladies,
Can anyone give me information about life in discovery gardens.
I have got a 2 yr old DS and currently do not have a car of my own at the moment.
so my question really is
1) Is DG a family friendly place to live
2) Am i able to commute easily in an out of DG to town till i get a car of my own
3)Looking to get DS enrolled in nursery soon, is there a "reasonably priced" British nursery around the area.
And any other useful information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

We're in DG and have been for the last 3 years. Where we are is very quiet and very family orientated. We have both a 4 and 2 year old. DG is a huge development and some buildings are used for employers to place their staff and there has been complaints about it. We're in building 120, and none of the building surrounding us are nothing but families and couples. There is a lovely square at the front of each building away from traffic so children can play without you worrying and some buildings, such as ours have a children's play area. The swimming pools aren't open yet, but looking like they maybe soon judging by the amount of activity around them. As for commuting easy without a car, unless you live very close to the big pink buildings where all the supermarkets etc.. are, you're not in walking distance of any shops. However, there is a shuttle bus service (operates approx. every 10 mins) that does a lope from DG to Ibn Battuta and the Metro, which is great. Taxis are very easy to hail down too. No nurseries in DG that I'm aware of, but my two go to Jebel Ali Village Nursery in JBR (Bahar 1), they also have nurseries in Jebel Ali Village and the Meadows, but JBR in my opinion is the best one of the three. No direct public transport links to here, so would need a car or taxi to get here. Although very quick from DG to JBR now the new junction is open. We like it here. We have a nice large apartment and able to pay in 12 cheques which helps. Some people will say to avoid DG, but in the area where we are it is very nice.

Hi the pools have no water in them. there is no TOWN in dubai. u go to malls. there is a mall at the end of discovery gardens. u can get public bus or if its not too hot its about 40 min walk depending on where ur apt is or taxi. we are moving out of here when our lease is up. been here 2 yrs now and still no pool open. you can get nicer apts around dubai which has all facilities i.e. pool, gym. worth looking into.
