Am sure this has come up already but my search revealed very little. I have an iphone4 which we bought out right. I had about 50 credit (etisilat) which has not transferred for some reason.

I seem to recall someone saying that the iphone’s chew through credit very quickly. Just wondering the best way to combat this (e.g go on a plan).

Thanks in advance.

I'm with FAMN on this one. I had the same problem with all my credit being eaten. I took out a plan from Etisalat, I went to the desk at MOE to arrange it. Now I have no problem and can use my phone properly. You are not tied into the plan, I renew it on a month by month basis. I have to make sure there is enough credit each month, if there isn't, the plan is automatically cancelled. Even my switching off the 3G etc, my credit was still being eaten. I kept a diary note each day of my credit, even when I had not used the phone, the credit was being scoffed! There is no point in having an Iphone if you can't use of the fun stuff on it. I have wifi at home but the phone used to drop off all the time. Now that I have the plan it doesn't do this anymore. for the Prepaid options, I am pretty sure you just need to have sufficient credit in your account at the billing cycle end... It seemed pretty simple - they even had brochures on it at the store at Dubai Mall. Thanks bodabz. Do you have to physically go to th etisalat store to renew each month?

there is a great app called my data usage which lets you monitor both your cellular data and wireless usage.

I had prepaid on my iphone 4 and it was eating through credit so fast - once I turned off celllular data - Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data - then it didn't blow through the credit, I always kept 3G enabled though.

I still have my 3G running... but all the push off (as below) and fetch manually. I have a plan as for each MB of data you pay a fortune if not on a plan. Etisalat have the new 'My Plans',... still expensive by OS standards but a start to the bundled services required in modern days! edited by famn on 16/02/2011

To stop so much data traffic: 1. Turn Notifications off (Settings | Notifications) 2. Turn off Data Roaming - particularly if you are going near borders or going OS 3. Turn of automatic email retrieval - just push the button when you want to update it - Settings | Mail, contacts... | Fetch New Data - Change Push Setting to "OFF" and Fetch to "Manually" There might be a few more... but I think these are the major data crunchers...

you need to disbale the 3G application. I had this problem with my Samsung Galaxy. I did a google search and found a code that you dial into your phone and it brings up a secret screen and from there you can disable the 3G. Will see if I can find it again
