Ouch indeed!!! Don't ask how but I got stung by one right on the top of my head. OMG, it did result in an abcess so painful, when it burst it took a good crop of hair with it too.... took ages for it grow back. Fingers crossed yours will be OK.. how about vinegar to neutralise it? x

Thanks it would be quite comical for anyone watching, as I managed to fall over too and graze my knees and elbows while trying to get the things off my leg and my foot, marginally missed the pool, although it might have been a better opition.

Hornet stings are very powerful. Take an antihistamine tablet. If the swelling does not disapear within 24hrs and it develops into an abcess, hospital immediately I'm afraid. Good luck. I hope you get better soon.

My daughter was once stung by a bee (or wasp?) at a BBQ. There was a guy there who was a homeopath and he told us to cut an onion in half and put it on the sting to ease the pain and reduce the swelling and it worked! Not sure if it will work on a hornet sting but might be worth giving it a go?!
