We went camping the other weekend and we drove from Al Ain towards Liwa near the Oman border. I noticed that a large areas. (100 X100 km) we intended to cross had a new fence and the security did not allow us to get in. Anyone knows what s going on there?!? Friends just did the tour in November and it was allowd back then. It seemed they closd the whole area off since January. There were still more fences being build as we passed. Are the days for 4X4 dessert driving and camping over now or does anyone has an explaination for this... We sent a "lovely" weekend driving along a fence for hours to get to Liwa...
