that runs from my left calf to the ankle and below my foot...turns extremely irritating since its paining all the time irrespective of whether I am standing, sitting or lying down...sometimes the pain is bad enough for me to wake up in the middle of the night...HOWEVER, this happens only on extremely cold days or say if I haven't covered my legs and am wearing a skirt on a slightly cold day as well. the pain picks up in the evening time and is a killer by the night...I can see a few veins on the surface of my skin at the calf, and wondering if its varicose...i know I need to see a doctor, but just which one? A vascular specialist, ortho, or who???

any suggestions ladies?!

I agree that it needs to be examined in case of it being a DVT. Dr Raslan, is a Chiropractor at The Dental Spa and also a MD so would be able to tell you if it is a joint or nerve problem or a medical issue that needs to be check out. Good Luck!

Have you had DVT before? DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS? Im no doctor but if its throbbing pain and temperature related could be something to do with poor circulation. Get it checked as if it is these can be quite dangerous, esp if it travels (pulmonary embolism). Anyway best to ask the expert

No, it doesn't sound like you have a flat foot. Try the previous poster's advice instead:-)

I am not sure if a 3/4 inch from the ground level to the highest point of the arch would be classified as a flat foot.

See a General Practitioner or family medicine doctor first, they will refer you to the appropriate specialist if required. Hope they can offer you some relief.

Do you have a flat foot/fallen arches? I had a similar type of pain after I broke my ankle and my GP kept telling me it was arthritis and kept plying me with painkillers. Someone eventually advised me to see a chiropractor and lo and behold a few presses here and there and I was pain free for the first time in 2.5 years. I then had an orthotic insole made to keep my foot in the corredt position.
