Our maid went home for a holiday and now pregnant - anybody been in the same situation?
Our maid went home in December for her annual leave (she only started with us in April but as she hadn't had a holiday in 3 years we let her go home for Christmas) and she has now told me she is pregnant. She is married and has 2 children back home.
Her visa expires at the end of April so we are thinking that we will just not renew this as she will have to go back to the Philipines to have the baby in August/September. We would then just pay for a one way ticket for her to go home. Does this sound reasonable or is there anything else we need to think about?
Also is she allowed to go the government hospitals here for her checkups, she is married so I'm hoping this wont be an issue?
We are so happy with her and will give her a great reference, she is totally devastated as I know she can't afford to support another child so I want to make sure we do the right thing.
