Hi,
I’m looking for guidance on hiring a part time helper. A few days a week.
I have been told it’s illegal to hire someone part time if you don’t use an agency? And they can’t have their own visa?
Please let me know any tips, as we are new to Dubai (from the uk) and have no idea.

Thanks x

Hi and welcome to the sand castles! Yep the only legal way you can hire domestic helpers, maids or cleaners on a part-time basis is through a cleaning company or agency. Avoid hiring maids who are looking for a part-time job with their "own visa" (this means they're in the country on a Freelancer visa or they're sponsored by their family/spouse) - this is against the law! Would also recommend reporting them if you encounter any. Domestic helpers must either be from a part-time maid company or a hired on a Full-Time Live-Out or Full-Time Live-in basis. Hope that helped!
